New Delhi: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has arrested an alleged Al-Qaeda operative for hatching a conspiracy to conduct terrorist acts in Lucknow.

According to reports, the arrested operative was identified as Tawheed Ahmad Shah and who is a resident of Chadoora, Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

Notably, a case against him was also registered last year by ATS UP in police station ATS Gomtinagar for recruiting members for Al-Qaeda affiliate Ansaar Gajwatul Hind (AGH) and conducting terror acts in Lucknow.

Earlier, the investigation agency had arrested five accused persons in the case, against whom the charge sheet was filed on January 5th this year.

Reportedly, the investigation revealed that Tawheed was the alleged mastermind of the conspiracy for recruitment and conducting terrorists acts in the name of AGH and was also found in several activities such as the procurement of arms, ammunition and explosive materials to be used in attacks in UP.
