NIA Raids 25 Locations Across 3 States Hunting for PFI Trainer Yakoob

Six people were previously detained in connection with the case, which the NIA re-registered on July 22 of last year after being originally lodged on July 12 at Phulwarisharif police station in Bihar's Patna district and included numerous incriminating items and papers pertaining to the PFI.

On February 4–5, this year, the NIA also searched eight places in Motihari, Bihar, and detained two individuals who had organised the guns and ammunition used in the murder. Mohammed Abid alias Aryan and Tanveer Raza alias Barkati were the two people detained.

After that, the NIA said that a reconnaissance operation had already been carried out in order to kill a target and that Yakoob, a PFI trainer who had been leading training sessions for PFI cadres, had received the weapons and ammunition.

The agency claimed that Yakoob, the PFI trainer, had just released an offensive and inflammatory Facebook video with the intention of upsetting peace and communal harmony.

"Other users of Facebook had commented on and trolled this post abusively. The absconding accused Yakoob and two arrested accused had identified some of them and had conspired to kill the targeted person," the NIA had said.

A PFI module that was planning targeted killings and upsetting communal harmony had been discovered and dismantled, according to the NIA, which had made the prior arrests.

In connection with investigations into the anti-Indian operations of the outlawed terror group Popular Front of India (PFI), National Investigation Agency (NIA) agents searched various places in Tamil Nadu on May 9. Raids are reportedly taking place in Chennai, Dindigul, Madurai, and Theni.

These searches were carried out by numerous NIA teams in close cooperation with Tamil Nadu Police at the residences and other locations of the case's suspects. On September 19 of last year, the NIA filed the lawsuit.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained Umar Sheriff R alias Umar Juice, 43, of Sungam Pallivasal Street in Nelpettai, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, on December 14 of last year for conspiring and engaging in illegal activities, such as igniting hostility between various groups based on religion and carrying out activities that were detrimental to communal harmony with the aim of upsetting public peace and tranquilly and sowing discontent against India.

The PFI is a purportedly extremist and exclusivist Muslim minority political group in India. It is important to note this because it is a political force in the Islamic world. Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and the National Development Front (NDF) were combined to form PFI in 2006.

The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) was used by the Central government to impose a five-year ban on the organisation, which was created to oppose Hindutva organisations.
