Ghaziabad: After black and white now it is a yellow fungus. The first case of yellow fungus has been reported from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Patients suffering from yellow fungus are showing signs of lethargy, have a low appetite or no appetite at all and weight loss. This form of fungus is said to be more dangerous than black fungus and white fungus.

The patient affected by the yellow fungus is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to hospital sources, the fungus leads to serious malnutrition, organ failure and sunken eyes which start internally.

Ghaziabad's ENT specialist Dr BP Tyagi said that while the white fungus targets the lungs and the black fungus targets the brain, yellow fungus affects both organs. Tyagi also said that no such fungus has been found in any human being before, although it has been seen in some types of animals.

According to the reports, a man has recently recovered from COVID-19 after 2 months. Doctors are currently treating yellow fungus with Amphotericin B injection, a broad spectrum antifungal.

Symptoms: Yellow fungus can lead to leakage of pus and slow healing of the open wound besides lethargy and appetite issue. It can also lead to organ failure and sunken eyes due to eventual necrosis.

Cause: Bad hygiene around your surroundings is said to be the main cause of the yellow fungus. Make sure that no food is getting spoilt and is disposed of properly. There should not be any faecal matter and should be cleaned as soon as possible to keep bacteria and fungus from growing.

Cure: Amphotericin B injection, a broad spectrum antifungal medicine, is said to be the only available treatment for yellow fungus.
