New Delhi: On Monday, the Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea regarding the rescheduling of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2021. A group of students taking the Class 12 Private, Patracahr and Compartment exams had earlier filed a plea to seek the rescheduling after a public notice dated July 13 was rescheduled informing the schedule of the NEET 2021 on September 21 as being "manifestly arbitrary" and "in violation of Article 14 of the Constitution of India."
The students have been advised to make a representation before the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Earlier, NTA DG Vineet Joshi had informed the press that NEET 2021 will not be postponed. he said, "There is no direct clash of NEET with CBSE board exams, it will be held as scheduled on September 12." In regard to the increase of attempts in NEET, he said, "The decision regarding multiple attempts in NEET will be taken by the Health Ministry. As of now, there is no plan to increase the attempts of the medical entrance."
The NEET 2021 clashes with the CBSE board improvement, compartment exams and other entrance exams. This has caused the students to demand its postponement.
The students of CBSE Class 12 who has opted for the Science stream has to appear for the Biology exam on September 6, Physics on September 9 and other major science subject exams which fall on the same week as NEET 2021.
Moreover, entrance exams such as AP EAMCET will be conducted on September 3,6 and 7 and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will be conducted from September 7 to 9.
