Patna: The newly launched Agnipath scheme introduced by the centre was not received with open arms by some youths in Bihar and they have expressed their disapproval and have fiercely opposed the scheme.
Massive protests against the Agnipath scheme erupted across Bihar with thousands of youth taking to the streets to voice their anger.
Rail tracks at the Jahanabad railway station on the Patna-Gaya rail route were blocked on June 16 by the protestors.
The agitators, who are demanding for the repeal of the scheme and the resumption of recruitment under normal process, also blocked the Patna-Gaya road route.
The Patna-Gaya passenger train was blocked by the agitating students at the Jahanabad railway station.
The railway officials, along with district police, made an attempt to pacify the angry protestors and urged them to vacate the railway track so that transportation on the route can be restored.
Besides, a large number of protestors also assembled at Kako Mor on Patna Gaya main road and they resorted to burning tyres to demonstrate their anger.
They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and accused them of compromising the future of the youth.
Many of them alleged that the Centre was not hiring 'Agniveers' but "Bali Ka Bakra" (Scapegoats) for four years.
The agitating students set ablaze a coach of intercity express at Bhabua Road railway station in Kaimur districts, and after passengers de-boarded from the train, they threw a burning tyre in the intercity express.
Massive agitations erupted in Nawada as well with the protestors resorting to burning tyres on Nawada railway station and on Prajatantra Chowk, which happens to be a bustling area in the city located in Bihar.
The traffic on the Gaya-Keul rail section was also disrupted due to massive protests.
The Howrah-Gaya express was also stopped at Warsaliganj railway station. Several trains operating on this route were also stopped at several stations. Incidents of stone-pelting were also reported from Arrah.
Earlier on June 15, a large number of youths demonstrated in Muzaffarpur and Buxar districts of the state and disrupted road and rail traffic.
