Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu Loses From Amritsar East By 6,750 Votes

Chandigar: Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was once considered a possible CM face of the Congress, on Thursday lost from Amritsar East by a margin of 6,750 votes.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Sidhu and congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said, ''The voice of the people is the voice of God …. Humbly accept the mandate of the people of Punjab …. Congratulations to Aap !!!''.

As the voters of Punjab have given their direct verdict, AAP is all set to form the government in state assembly with a thumping majority of 92 seats of 117 seats.

AAP's CM candidate Bhagwant Mann has scored the Dhuri seat he was contesting from.

Apart from Sidhu, the Punjab's former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh lost his constituency, Patiala Urban, to an AAP candidate.

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi too lost from both of his seats.

Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) Bikram Singh Majithia also lost from Amritsar East by a margin of 14,408 votes while SAD leader Parkash Singh Badal lost the Lambi seat by a margin of over 11,000 votes.

Meanwhile, as Sidhu lost, Archana Puran Singh has suddenly started trending on Twitter.

Funny memes of Archana Puran Singh are going viral on Twitter and people are of the view that Sidhu's defeat, Archana's chair in the Kapil Sharma Show is in danger.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was replaced by Archana in 'The Kapil Sharma Show' in the year 2019. According to reports, Sidhu was removed from Kapil's show after his statement regarding the Pulwama terror attack. Later, Archana Puran Singh joined the show.
