NEW DELHI: The construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will take place solely through domestic funds from general public, and will not depend on any government funds, said Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the building Trust. By conducting mass contact programmes and collection campaigns, Rai stated that people will be made to unite closer by contributing in the construction of their "rashtra temple".

"Voluntary donations from Rambhakts will be accepted for which coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1,000 will be made available," Rai said in his Press Conference today. Although a target amount has not yet been decided or revealed by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi  Teerth Kshetra Trust, Rai decides to travel across the country for the cause of making collections and taking the proposed new model of the Ram Mandir closer to crores of Indian household.

Rai further stated that the Trust will not receive any funds or donations from the government, or even from abroad as it does not have sufficient approvals to do so. In order to maintain transparency in the financial dealings and transactions, the trust has printed 4 crore coupons of Rs 10 denomination, 8 crore coupons of Rs 100 and 12 lakhs coupons of Rs 1,000 denomination, he said. However, no rigid plan of expenditure has yet been made, although some financial assistance in the form of CSR funds for building adjoining, secondary buildings around the Ram Mandir can be considered.

Stressing on the long wait Rambhakts had to undergo before the actual construction of Ram Mandir began, Rai concluded saying that the decision to use voluntary co-operation and voluntary funding for such a holy cause seems the only rational thing to do. Engaging people in the construction of Ram Mandir will further help them understand the significance of its history. The collection process is set to start immediately from Makar Sankranti and conclude by Magha Purnima, and will supposedly involve all possible regions of India so as to encourage mass participation.
