Ratan Tata pledges Rs.500 crore for war against Coronavirus

New Delhi : In a laudable act, celebrated industrialist of the country Ratan Tata has, on Saturday announced that the ‘Tata family’ will donate Rs. 500 crore for the on-going war against the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country. The veteran industrialist in a tweet said that the Tata Trusts, Tata Sons and the Tata Group companies will jointly donate the money. “We pledge Rs. 500 crore for the war against the novel coronavirus. The money will be spent for providing personal protective equipment for the medical personnel who are working on the frontline, respiratory systems, testing kits, setting up modular treatment facilities, knowledge management and training of health care workers,” the business tycoon has said. Tata also said, “The COVID-19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time,". Similarly, some other industrialists of the country including RIL owner Mukesh Ambani have pledged money for the war against the pandemic. The Reliance Industry Ltd. has, reportedly, created an exclusive hundred-bedded corona centre in Mumbai to provide novel coronavirus positive patient.
