New Delhi: CT Ravi, BJP national secretary and former Karnataka minister demanded to change the name of central university JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) to Swami Vivekananda.

GS Ravi tweeted that Bharat's patriotic saint will motivate generations to come. In support of his demand, he also added, "It is Swami Vivekananda who stood for the 'Idea of Bharat' and his philosophy & high values will signify the 'strength of Bharat.'

PM Modi had virtually unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda at the campus of JNU four days ago.

He put more stress on the youth of India and hoped that the youth would create a 'new identity for India' in the 21st century. Calling the youth of the country as 'brand ambassadors' of India, he said the youth is the representative of 'culture' and 'tradition' which diversifies India from the rest.

"The expectation from you is not only to be proud of the identity of India which has been going on for thousands of years, but also to create a new identity of India in the 21st century," PM Modi added.

While addressing the importance of unity, our PM instructed the youth of the nation that the nation's interest should always be put emphasis on before personal ideologies. Provided, when the nation was going through a difficult time, the country came together and stood in solidarity.

He warned not to put personal ideologies before the nation's calling. Ideologies should always stand in the favour of one's nation's good interests.

According to PM Modi, the statue of Swami Vivekananda will instil courage and compassion in the hearts of the youth.

JNU has a reputation for an impregnable for of Left parties with student unions calling the shots on the campus. Since October, students of JNU have been protesting against a fee hike of 150%, due to which the final semester examinations were boycotted.
