NEW DELHI: The state of Assam commemorated the courage of the valour legendary Ahom Army General Lachit Barphukan at the Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path by showcasing a tableau to honour the Republic Day celebration.
The tableau of the northeastern state endeavoured to bring the essence of the 'Land of Heroes and Spiritualism' concept, comprising two parts as seen in Lachit Barphukan on the boat and an organisational view of the sacred Kamakhya temple.
The trailer of the tableau portrayed the structure of Kamakhya temple situated on Nilachal Hills, on the bank of Brahmaputra river in Guwahati, seving as one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations.
The imitation of Shiva Dol and Rang Ghar of Sibsagar district was also on display.
The Assam tableau was graced by Bihu dance, an indigenous folk dance of Assam performed during the Bihu festival being an integral part of Assamese culture also exhibited.
Musical instruments inclusive of Dhol, Pepa, Taal, Nahi, and Gogona were played in Bihu songs and dances.
Several Bihu dancers, performed around the tableau, to honour the Assamese culture in its full glory. The Tableau depicting the valour of the legend is a part of the celebration of the 400th Birth Anniversary of the Assam champion. Earlier in November, Assam organised a three-day event in New Delhi, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
