NEW DELHI : Indian cricket's star wicket keeper Rishabh Pant met with a major car accident on 30th of December, in the early morning hours. As per the sources, he was approaching his home town in Uttarakhand's Roorkee when the unfortunate incident occurred. 

Ashok Kumar, the DGP of Uttarakhand, stated that Rishabh's car caught fire after crashing into a divider at the Narsan border. Rishabh said that he lost control of the vehicle after falling asleep while driving, added the DGP. Risabh was driving alone from Delhi to his home town near Haridwar.

Furthermore, Rishabh Pant broke one of the windows and escaped the burning car. He was alone inside the vehicle at the time of incident. The medical reports declared injuries on his forehead and leg.

Dr. Sushil Nagar, the chairman of Saksham hospital informed that Rishabh has been referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun and that his condition is stable as of now. Soon after the receiving the information, SP Dehat Swapno Kishore Singh arrived at the spot. According to statements of eyewitness, Pant's car caught fire after hitting the railing.

It reportedly took a lot of time to douse the fire. In the meantime, Rishabh was rushed to the Saksham hospital on the Delhi road. Several pictures flooded the internet post the accident, where in one picture Rishabh Pant is seen lying on the bed with a bandage on his forehead and in the other picture severe bruises are seen being treated on his back.

His IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals tweeted about his accident. Tweets from the cricket fraternity came along after the tragic episode, including from Virendra Sehwag, Harsha Bhogle, Abhinav Mukund, Ricky Ponting, VVS Laxman and so on.

However, Rishabh is not a part of India's squad of the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. The board of cricket association (BCCI) did not release any information regarding injuries.

Most recently, he played the second test against Bangladesh in Mirpur , in which India won the series 2-0.
