New Delhi: India is currently affected by the second wave of coronavirus and thousands of people are falling prey to this deadly infection as the days pass by. The second wave of coronavirus brings along new symptoms which were previously unknown to us. The new symptoms as identified by medical experts across India include gastro-intestinal conditions like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea; pink eyes, impaired hearing, and other symptoms such as myalgia, joint pain, loss of appetite, cold, fatigue, brain fog, and heart palpitations. 

The new mutations of the virus-like the double mutant variant from the state of Maharashtra, have shown the potential to attack the vital organs of our body. Recent studies suggest that the virus now can also affect healthy people and children. 

India has recorded 1,18,993 new cases on Thursday, April 8th, 2021, taking the tally up to 9,63,369 active cases, there have been 59,910 recoveries and 700 deaths across the country.

Meanwhile, in Assam, 195 new coronavirus cases have been recorded on Thursday, April 8th, 2021, and there have been 31 recoveries. 

As the cases are rising by the thousands, it is our responsibility to strictly adhere to the Covid 19 rules and regulations. It's in our hands to prevent the deadly virus from spreading and affecting more lives. Wearing a mask in the public sphere is mandatory, and hands should be washed and sanitized frequently. Unnecessary public gatherings are best avoided. Lastly, we must make it a point to cooperate with the front line healthcare workers who are relentless in their fight against the spread of Covid-19.
