Mumbai: A day after veteran Bollywood actor and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan's comment in Parliament on Bollywood drug nexus, Mumbai Police has beefed up security outside her bungalows in the city as a precautionary measure.
The police have provided extra security outside the two houses of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.
Earlier on September 15, Jaya Bachchan rebuffed Bollywood drug nexus charges in Parliament and said the image of the whole fraternity cannot be tarnished because of some people.
"People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree and I really disassociate. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language" MP Jaya Bachchan stated in Parliament.
The alleged nexus among film industry and drug cartel was flagged in Rajya Sabha on day one of the monsoon session on September 14 with actor-politician Ravi Kishan alleging that "drug addiction is there in the film industry too".
Criticising the Maharashtra government, BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar asked for what valid reason "this alacrity was not shown in giving security to Sushant Singh Rajput" who was discovered dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14. Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh had in February lodged an objection with Mumbai police claiming Sushant's life was at serious risk.
