NEW DELHI: The love story of Pakistan's Seema Haider, who illegally entered India via Nepal to be with her lover Sachin Meena, is slowly turning into a spy thriller as doubts over her connections to Pakistan’s army and ISI surfaced.

Many are starting to doubt that Seema is a Pakistani spy who entered India to gather intelligence and relay it back to her own country.

Questioning by Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has revealed that Seema was previously in touch with many people in India through the online game PUBG, through which she also befriended Sachin.

Seema, a married woman with four kids, later fell in love with Noida-based Sachin and decided to cross over to India to be with him. She reportedly entered Uttar Pradesh illegally via Nepal and then is said to have taken a bus to reach Greater Noida.

The Uttar Pradesh ATS is now probing the details of how she entered India and questioning her on possible links with the Pakistan army or its external spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Moreover, the Pakistani woman has also come under the radar of the Intelligence Bureau over her probable connections with the Pakistan Army.

Seema’s first husband Ghulam Haider, who works in the Gulf, has alleged that she has a personal connection with the Pakistani Army, a fact that was earlier denied by her. Her family is said to have revealed that her brother had recently joined the Pak Army, while her uncle is a high-ranking official in the force.

Seema and Sachin were questioned for hours by the UP ATS at its Noida office on Monday.

During questioning, it was revealed that Seema Haider had been in contact with many people from Delhi-NCR through PUBG. She is suspected to have zeroed in on Sachin, a 22-year-old grocery store owner with whom she is currently living in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

The ATS also informed that Seema Haider was asked to read out a few lines in English. They were surprised that she not only read well, but her fluency in English as she read them out was impeccable.

Meanwhile, questions are being raised over the authenticity of her Pakistani identity card, a report said. The ID card usually obtained at birth, was only issued on September 20, 2022. The Uttar Pradesh ATS is now investigating the delay in her obtaining the Pakistani citizenship ID card.

Moreover, her passport, Aadhaar card, and other documents related to her children will also come under the scanner, the report said.

Seema had illegally entered India, accompanied by her four children, taking a bus from Nepal in May. Upon reaching India’s Uttar Pradesh, she headed straight for Greater Noida, to meet with her PUBG partner Sachin Meena, with whom she first got in touch in 2019.

On July 4, Seema was arrested for entering India illegally by local police while Sachin was held for providing shelter to illegal immigrants. They were, however, granted bail by a local court on July 7 and have been living together, along with her four children in a rented house in the Rabupura area of Noida.

On being questioned by the media, Seema said she did not want to go back to Pakistan and wants to live with Sachin in India only, for which she claimed to have even converted to Hinduism.
