Man accused in 2018 Molestation Case, Kills Victim's Father in Hathras

Hathras: In a distressing incident from Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh, a man was shot dead by one Gaurav Sharma, who was out on bail, for molesting the man's daughter in 2018.

A video of the girl begging for justice has surfaced online, wherein she is pleading for help whilst alleging that the accused gunned down her father.

The girl in the video stated that the accused- Gaurav in 2018 molested her following which her father filed a complaint with the police. He was granted bail by a local court after a month and had been out of the prison since then.

The incident took place in the Naujarpur village of Sasni Police Station area of Hathras on Monday evening.

In a detailed statement on social media, the Hathras Police stated that the accused and the victim's family had been hostile to each other.

Things took an ugly turn when the daughters of the deceased went to a temple where the family of the accused was also present. They were involved in an argument over the case and in a while the accused also arrived at the temple and engaged in a war of words. Enraged over the incident the accused along with some other men from his family went to the farm field where the victim's father was harvesting and shot the man.

The Superintendent of Police, Hathras, Vineet Jaiswal in a video said, "The deceased has been identified as Amrish Sharma. In July 2018, he filed a case against the main accused Gaurav Sharma, following which he was arrested and sent to jail. But he came out on bail after one month."

A family member of the accused has been arrested so far and further investigations have been initiated. Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to invoke the tough National Security Act against all the accused involved in the case.

While demanding justice for her father the girl was heard as saying in the video, "First, he molested me and then when my father lodged a case against him and now he has killed my father. He had come to our village with six-seven people. My father had no enmity against anyone. His name is Gaurav Sharma,"

In a social media post, the police said, "Hathras Police, formed several teams to nab the culprits, however managed to arrest one of the accused Lalit Sharma. Efforts are on to nab others."
