SILIGURI : West Bengal police managed to nab a culprit who killed his wife, chopped the body parts in two pieces and drowned the sacks in Mahananda canal. 

The gruesome episode took place in north Bengal town of Siliguri district. The arrest was made on 5th of January 2023 by the concerned police department. A police officer informed that, the man admitted the heinous crime during the investigation process. 

However, he confessed it after 10 long days his wife went missing. The deceased victim has been identified as Renuka Khatun. According to the police, the accused had suspected that his wife was involved in an illicit affair.

In his confession he described that he first strangled his wife's neck and later chopped the body in two parts. He had put them in two different sacks, which he later drowned in the canal. The accused has been identified as Md Ansarul.

Meanwhile, the department has initiated a search operation, in an attempt to recover the chopped body parts. Police has taken the help of divers to complete the task.

The incident is somewhat similar to the murder case of Shraddha Walker who was chopped into 35 pieces by her live-in partner, Aftab Poonawala. Aftab is currently under custody.

In November 2022, another incident took place in West Bengal where a man was killed by his own son. The deceased victim identified as Ujjal Chakraborty, was an ex-navy man. His son had chopped off his body into pieces before dumping it into several areas.

Police apprehended both wife and the son who asserted that the man used to harass them on a daily basis. The incident took place in West Bengal's Baruipur district. As per the police report, Ujjal Chakraborty initially had hit his head on a chair, after which he was strangled by his son. Both the mother and son chopped the body into six pieces with the help of a hacksaw.
