New Delhi: SpiceJet, a low-cost carrier, has announced that it will be one of the first airlines to offer broadband in the skies as it begins to roll out a brand new fleet of Boeing 737 MAX jets in December.

This will be an effort to appeal to domestic passengers who are already beginning to return to air travel following the pandemic.

Since then, it has "'gone through the greatest scrutiny of any aircraft in history" and is today ''the safest aircraft in the world," said Ajay Singh, the Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, which has recommenced flights using the aircraft. "The regulators from worldwide especially the United States, Europe and India had scrutinized multiple times and have finally given us the nod for commercial operations. We are ready to take off our flight for commercial passengers use," he added.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced that he will board the first flight upon resumption; along with spice Jet owners who will be with their families to restore the people's trust in the respective model of aircraft.

SpiceJet presently runs 13 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 205 more on order and scheduled to arrive in December, according to the company. The purchase is worth $22 billion in all, and the airline aims to resume the supply of the planes in December as it ramps up operations at a time when domestic aviation is swiftly returning to pre-Covid levels.

Due to the halt in operations of the Max aircraft, SpiceJet has suffered a loss of crores, for which it has claimed reimbursement from Boeing. In addition to improved fuel efficiency, the aircraft promises a new experience for budget travellers, with more legroom than traditional Boeing 737 versions and streaming broadband capabilities accessible beginning next month.
