The 'Tawang Declaration' was adopted by the key members of the North East Leaders Connect (NELC) at the meeting in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Taking to the Twitter handle, Arunachal CM Pema Khadu wrote, "Immensely proud to be part of the #TawangDeclaration, an outcome of 10th-anniversary meeting of @NortheastLC.

The declaration aims to harness the vast potential of #NorthEast in sustainable manner and to tap creative potential of the youths for progressive and resurgent India."

What Does The Tawang Declaration Say?

The declaration states, "North East Leaders Connect believes that northeast India is endowed with tremendous natural beauty and geo-strategic importance. The region has inherent potential, particularly in the fields of tourism, organic agriculture, horticulture, food processing, handicrafts, music, sports, and IT-enabled services. It is important to harness the region's abundant natural resources in a sustainable and scientific manner while keeping the local ecology in mind. Achieving this goal will ensure a stronger, resilient, and progressive India."

What is North East Leaders Connect?

NELC is an influential and dynamic group and network of like-minded North-East Indian leaders and achievers. Policymakers, business innovators, journalists, social entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare specialists, athletes, development practitioners, and others are among the members.

North East Leaders Connect's (NELC) mission is to, "Serve as a catalyst for the promotion of a thriving and robust economy, good governance, environmental sustainability, and cultural identity preservation in order to involve our young and communities in the North-East."

According to a press statement, NELC will continue to bring together various young minds and leaders, led by the principal concept that the youth are the future and crucial to ensuring any sustainable intervention. They will be given the opportunity to network, be mentored, and collaborate in order to create a lively, dynamic, and unified North East.
