NEW DELHI: On Friday, the Falaknuma Express caught fire as it crossed Telangana's Yadadri district in at least three of its coaches.

The Howrah to Secunderabad train was stopped close to the Bommaialli village as soon as the fire started. In order to jump out of the compartments before the flames spread, the passengers had a precarious escape. The coaches S3, S4, and S5 were enveloped in dense, black smoke.

According to reports, the fire started after a short circuit, which resulted in the afflicted bogies emitting heavy smoke. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as a result of the early intervention and safe evacuation of the passengers by railway personnel. In Telangana's Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, between the towns of Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli, the occurrence took place. The fire seriously destroyed three of the train's carriages. There were no reported injuries.

The Falaknuma Express left from Howrah and ran into trouble with a fire shortly before it reached its final destination. Authorities' quick action ensured that the train was stopped on time, enabling the safe evacuation of passengers. The fire severely damaged the four bogies, but thanks to the officials' rapid response, no one was hurt, including the passengers. To ascertain the cause of the incident, additional investigations are being conducted.

In June, in Odisha, a collision involving three trains has resulted in at least 261 fatalities and 1,000 injuries. A passenger train derailed onto a nearby track and was hit by an approaching train, also colliding with a nearby halted goods train.

A month after a devastating train accident in India that left at least 293 people dead, more than 50 bodies are still unaccounted for.

The accident scene has since been cleaned up, but many families claim that because they are still looking for their loved ones' bodies, they are unable to find closure.
