GUWAHATI: The Chief Minister of Assam announced that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented soon and that the polygamy system will come to an end in India. He was addressing a meeting organised by the Member of Parliament and president of Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party Bandi Sanjay Kumar at Karimnagar on Sunday. The ‘Hindu Ekta Yatra’ was organised in Telangana on Sunday after the massive victory of the Congress in Karnataka on Saturday.
"There are some people in India who thought they can marry four women. That was their thinking. But, I say you will not be able to do four marriages. Those days are going to come to an end. That day is not far. Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is going to come in India and the time has also come to make India a truly secular nation," said the chief minister while addressing the gathering.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned that the Assam government has recently constituted a four-member expert committee to examine the legal possibilities and the necessary steps for the state legislature to enact a law to end the polygamy system in the country.
He also mentioned that the Ram Rajya will replace the Raja’s Rule in the state as the state is going to elections later this year. Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned that the people of Telangana are eager for the Ram Rajya. He also added that he saw on the media that some people are saying that after the outcome of the Karnataka Assembly election, nothing more will happen in the name of Hinduism in the country. He however said that that as long as the sun and moon exist, India will have Nationalism and Sanatan Dharma.
