New Delhi: Amid tension between Russia and Ukraine, India has advised its citizens in Ukraine to leave the country temporarily.

The Indian Embassy in the country has asked Indians, particularly students whose stay is not essential, to leave Ukraine temporarily in view of uncertainties of the current situation.

''In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine,'' the embassy said in an advisory for Indian nationals in Ukraine.

"Indian nationals are requested to keep the Embassy informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable the Embassy to reach them where required. The Embassy continues to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine," the advisory added.

Meanwhile, the United States (US) on said that it will close its embassy in Ukraine and move all remaining staffers there to a city near the Polish border as invasion fears intensity.

The US has warned of a Russian attack on Ukraine, and the weekend talks between US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not yield any success.

Geopolitical tensions are another setback for risk asset markets, which are already grappling with inflation and prospects of an interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve.
