NEW DELHI: 19 states will receive a total of Rs 6194.40 crore when the Centre approves its disbursement. Centre has allotted Rs 1,28,122.40 crore for SDRF for the years 2021-22 to 2025-26 based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, gave his approval on Friday for the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to release Rs 6,194.40 crores to 19 State Governments.

For the fiscal year 2022–2023, the sum includes Rs 1,209.60 crores as the Central Share of the SDRF for four states: Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

15 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Tripura, have received a total of Rs 4,984.80 crores for the fiscal year 2023–2024. Under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has already authorised the distribution to nine states in 2023–2024 of Rs 3649.40 crores as the Central Share of the SDRF.

The Central Government has allotted Rs. 1,28,122.40 crores for SDRF for the years 2021–2022 to 2025–2026 based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. As the water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries dropped at numerous locations over the past 24 hours, the flood situation in Assam has improved. In Assam, the rivers were not flowing above the danger threshold, according to a report.

There have been no fatalities in the past 48 hours, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Thus, seven people have died in all up to this point. In three districts, 19,656 people are still in need of assistance. Lakhimpur district of Assam, where over 11,000 people were affected, is still the worst-hit area. Significant road damage was also observed at 25 locations in the districts of Barpeta, Dhubri, Karimganj, Nalbari, and Sonitpur, while significant erosion was seen in the Chirang, Sonitpur, and Jorhat districts.
