NEW DELHI: A government officer of a state-run power-run distribution company in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad got suspended after a photo of Al-Qaeda's founder Osama bin Laden in his office went viral on social media.
As per reports, the officer had put the picture of Osama bin Laden describing him as the 'world's best junior engineer', following which he was suspended.
Notably, Ravindra Prakash Gautam, sub-divisional officer (SDO) with the Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (DVVNL), placed a picture of Laden in his office.
He wrote a note below the picture which read, "Respected Osama bin Laden, world's best junior engineer".
Senior district officers took cognisance of the matter after Laden's picture went viral on social media. The senior officers ordered SDO's suspension and the picture of Laden was also removed from the office.
"Managing Director of DVVNL has suspended SDO Ravindra Prakash Gautam following an inquiry into the incident," Farrukhabad District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Taking harsh disciplinary action, the SDO was suspended for violation of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants' Conduct Manual, 1956. A detailed probe report will be sent to the state government soon.
