Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give Diwali bonus to 15 Lakh state government employees. The bonus would be a month's salary. This is expected to cost Rs 1,022 crores to the state exchequer. Those who will benefit from this bonus also includes government and government-aided school teachers, employees of local bodies and daily wager under the state.
As per norms, maximum allotted bonus will be Rs 6,908 per employee. While 25% of the bonus will be given in cash, 75% will be added to the provident fund (PF).
National security certificate will be given to those employees without a PF account, a government spokesperson said.
Yadvendra Mishra, head of Uttar Pradesh Secretariat Employees Association said that the bonus is applicable to class-three and four employees. They planned, if not 100%, then at least 50% bonus be given as cash in hand.
In another important decision, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath advised officials to open night shelters with the onset of winter. The CM directed all officials to ensure every required facility is made available for providing shelters, including cleanliness and sanitisation in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Night shelters will also be set up in hospitals for the attendants of the patients.
