DEHRADUN: Amritpal Singh, a pro-Khalistan preacher who has fled, may have entered the state, according to information provided to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V Murugesan.

According to information Murugesan acquired from the Punjab Police, the Khalistan supporter who fled from Punjab may reach Uttarakhand from Haryana.

He stated that checks and surveillance were being conducted and that alerts had been placed in all likely locations. According to the police officer, the border has also been put on notice, and the district police have also been informed.

Due to the potential for Amritpal Singh to enter the State, a warning was issued on Friday in the Uttarakhand districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar.

In anticipation of the prospect of Amritpal Singh entering the national capital, teams from the Delhi Police and Puniab Police began searching for him on Friday in Delhi and around its boundary.

Waris Puniab De, the leader of the pro-Khalistani group, is believed to have departed the capital, according to the Delhi Police. As per the authorities, after obtaining intelligence inputs about the sighting of Amritpal, a supporter of Khalistan, at Delhi's ISBT bus terminal, the Delhi Police and Punjab Police began a search operation in Delhi and its surroundings.

Intelligence reports have speculated that he might be pretending to be a sadhu. Amritpal Singh is accompanied by Papalpreet Singh, as per sources.

Amritpal's use of a vehicle other than a bus to cross the Delhi boundary had raised concerns from the Punjab Police. The Delhi Police are attempting to follow Amritpal's movements after going into alert status in response to the information.

An operation was started by Punjab Police on March 18 against Amritpal and his supporters.

The crackdown started almost three weeks after Amritpal's supporters fought with law enforcement officers at the Ajnala police station outside of Amritsar on February 23. They were there to demand the release of Lovepreet Toofan, one of his close aides.

Lovepreet Toofan was detained for allegedly assaulting and kidnapping a man when thousands of his followers attacked the Ajnala police station, brandishing swords and large-caliber weapons and threatening the officers with grave repercussions if they did not free him.
