Rajasthan- A woman constable from Rajasthan, who was denied leave keeping in mind the massive surge in the cases of the novel coronavirus, held her Haldi ceremony in the police station. 

The constable belongs to the Dungarpur police station. The video and pictures of her smeared in the colours of Haldi are making headlines and is rapidly being shared across social media platforms. 

In the video that is circulating all over social media, the woman constable's colleagues can be seen performing the rituals, applying Haldi and singing traditional songs. The colleagues can be seen wearing face masks and dressed in their uniform while the lady constable was seen in a yellow salwar kameez and red dupatta.  Read more

At one point in the video, the colleagues are seen to lift up the chair in which the constable is seated and is moved in circles as a part of celebrating the occasion. 

The frontline workers like police officials, healthcare workers and many others have been tirelessly working round the clock in order to protect the civilians from the grasp of this deadly infectious disease. Especially in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the massive spike in the daily cases of the virus has made it even more challenging for frontline healthcare workers. 

This news of the woman constable makes it clear to us about the amount of sacrifice our frontline COVID warriors have to make in order to keep us safe from the grasp of this deadly infectious disease. As the cases of the novel coronavirus keep soaring up the sky and spiral out of control with every passing day, the pressure and responsibility put upon the frontline workers are tremendously intense like never before. Hence, it is our collective responsibility as a society to support and cooperate with the frontline workers who have been relentless in the fight against coronavirus infection. 

Meanwhile, India once again shatters its own previous records as 3.46 Lakh Fresh COVID-19 Cases have been reported in the last 24 hours which takes the nation's total caseload to 1.66 crores. The number of active cases amounts to about 25.43 lakh. 2,624 new COVID-induced fatalities have been reported in the last 24 hours, the highest deaths recorded in a single day so far, taking the total tally of deaths to 1.89 lakh.
