Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the electorate of UP to bring back the ruling BJP back to power or face the possibility of the state turning into a "Kashmir, Kerala or Bengal".
This remark by the UP CM comes on the eve of the first phase of polling for the UP Assembly Elections on 10 February. Adityanath made the remark via a six-minute video message posted on Twitter.
The CM bragged that rioters are not at ease during his tenure. He claims that the UP government has succeeded in putting an end to the illicit activities carried out by them. He also added that terrorists are making threats.
He has warned the voters to not let the five-year effort of his government go down the drains. He alerted that the failure to do so will culminate in the state becoming like Kashmir, Kerala or West Bengal.
Yogi Adityanath, in his appeal to lure voters, said that the people can be assured of leading a life without fear, if he is voted back to power.
He added that UP, the most populous state in India, has finally got rid of "professional criminals" and the fear of the mafia.
The BJP had earlier accused the Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party of being in cahoots with the criminals of the state, an accusation which the Samajwadi party has vehemently denied.
Adityanath went on to say that the Hindus who had earlier migrated from their home have returned. It could be a possible reference of the alleged exodus of traders after threats from criminals in Shamli's Kairana town some years back.
"Those who used to issue threats and extort money from traders are either in jail or left the state," he said.
Adityanath claimed that the police can now do their duties with any political interference and added that the situation for women in the state has become much safer than what it was before.
The CM also claims to have never worked in a biased manner during his tenure and added that there was no scam whatsoever. The CM stated that no one can raise a single charge of corruption of a single penny against him.
The UP assembly elections will be held in seven phases from 10 February to 7 March. The polling will be conducted on February 10,14,20,23,27 and March 3 and 7 respectively. The results will be declared on 10 March.
