Silchar, Feb 12: The 130th birth anniversary of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra was observed with solemnity and sombreness on the premises of Satsang Vihar Ashram, Ashram road, Silchar on Sunday. The 2 day long programme saw a large number of devotees taking an active part in the proceedings. The auspicious celebration was iugurated by Jyotindralal Roy and Dibyendu Shekar Majumdar and marked by the presence of devoted women singers who sang at Matri Sammelan. Various rituals about the celebration of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra’s birth anniversary were performed. A huge procession was also taken out which paraded the main streets of the town.
It was followed by Prartha, Guru Pram, Joy Radhe Kirta, amjop and Aarti. Cultural events on both the evenings of the 2 day long programme were mesmerizing and kept the audience enchanted. Dhamail, songs and dance items were performed by local artistes. It was Zee Bangla famed singer Pankaj ttu who kept the audience spellbound. Baul songs were also performed. Prasad was distributed among all the devotees. Ashram authorities and police administration were vigilant.
Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra was an Indian Godman, founder of Satsang and a homeopathic physician. He was born to Sivachandra Chakravarty and Manonohini Devi at Himaitpur village, present day Pab district in Bangladesh. He married Sorashibala, Sri Sri Boro Maa, at the age of 18. Sri Sri Boro Maa is a role model to millions of devotees for being a caring, supportive and loyal wife. Sree Sree Thakur miraculous curing ability and his me and fame as a physician spread like wild fire. On his 100th birth anniversary, the Government of India released a postage stamp on him.
