3 arrested for ‘forging’ ACP’s signature in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: As a rule, the contractual workers of Guwahati Refinery have to renew their contract every year with submission of police verification. The Guwahati Refinery falls under the Noonmati police station jurisdiction, as such, the verification is supposed to be carried out by the ACP of that station. However, upon a re-verification enquiry on Friday, suspicion arouse regarding the signature of the ACP.

It was later discovered that the signature was fake and forged by ACP office constable (UB) Paresh Kalita. Upon investigation, Kalita admitted forging the signature and informed about his two accomplices Pankaj Bora and Durga Tiwari, who were arrested on Friday. A case (205/19 U/S 409/419/468 IPC) is registered against them. The accused were produced before the court and have been taken into judicial custody.
