Administrations of Dhubri Discussed Border Issues At DC’s Conference Hall

DHUBRI: A 10-member delegation from Bangladesh had discussions on a wide range of bilateral issues including border fencing, trade, commerce and trans-border smuggling with the administrations of Dhubri and South Salmara-Mancachar districts at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall here on Sunday.

“Issues related to security were raised from both the sides and sought to be solved at the earliest while a few issues are to be taken at the Central government-level of both the countries. Both sides showed eagerness to move fast towards peace and prosperity,” informed an official who had attended the meeting.

The Bangladesh delegation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram district of the neighbouring country, Sultana Parvin. Besides Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani and South Salmara-Mancachar Deputy Commissioner Atika Sultana, the Superintendents of Police of both the districts and high-level BSF officials also attended the meeting.

The Bangladesh delegation also visited the Asharikandi village near Gauripur of Dhubri district, where the Director of North East Craft and Rural Development Organisation (Necardo), Binoy Bhattacharjee showed them the art of terracotta in the cluster villages there. Later, the delegation left for Kurigram via Chengrabandha.
