All Bodo Students’ Union to confer 14th Kamal Kr Brahma award to HSLC toppers of Bodo medium on May 22 in Udalguri

KOKRAJHAR: All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has decided to confer the 14th Kamal Kr. Brahma Derhasat Bantha, 2019 to HSLC toppers of Bodo medium on May 22 at a special function to be held at Bodofa Fwthar, Bhergaon in Udalguri district.

Talking to reporters, the Education Secretary of the ABSU Kastom Basumatary said the HSLC result of Bodo medium has been shining since the ABSU launched “Mission Quality Education” movement in 2006. He said altogether 1266 Bodo medium students secured 1st division this year which includes- 264 in Kokrajhar district, 188 in Chirang, 410 in Baksa, 217 in Udalguri, 24 in Barpeta, 12 in Nalbari, 30 in Sonitpur, 21 in Biswanath, 1 in Lakhimpur, 65 in Dhemaji, 1 in Golaghat, 6 in Karbi Anglong, 1 in Morigaon, 2 in Guwahati, 5 in Kamrup and 19 in Goalpara. However, no one secured 1st division in Nagaon and South Kamrup, he said adding that there were lots of hurdles and shortcomings in Bodo medium schools in Assam due to the pathetic attitude of the government of Assam.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of the ABSU Lawrence Islary conveyed his greetings and congratulations to all the toppers and passed-out students. The ABSU leaders said the Government of Assam has not set up the Separate Directorate for Bodo medium education in the State, which is a long pending demand made by the ABSU.
