Anti-Drug Rally Taken Out In Silchar Town

SILCHAR: An anti-drug rally was taken out by various organizations led by Youths Against Social Evils (YASE), Silchar, on Friday. Other organizations in the rally included AIDSO, Leo Club, Silchar Central and Radha SHG. The rally was staged from Annapurana Ghat to the Deputy Commissioner’s office with the message ‘Say No to Drugs’.

YASE has earmarked four zones in its to fight against drugs. They are Silchar, Borkhola-Katigorah, Udharbond-Lakhipur and Dholai-Sonai.

In Silchar, Annapurna Ghat has been given the topmost priority, as the drug menace is high in this area. It is alleged that teenagers, boys and girls, come to Annapurna Ghat to buy and consume drugs. Later, YASE submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy and Additional Superintendent of Police Jagadish Das. They urged upon the authorities concerned to take measures for wiping out the evils of drug abuse.
