Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Tage Taki is of the opinion that fish farming coupled with livestock rearing and agricultural crop cultivation is the ‘only mantra’ for doubling of farmers’ income by 2022.
“These sectors are a natural choice for North East farmers,” he said during his visit to Integrated Pabhoi Green Fish farming at Biswanath Chariali in Assam on Monday, an official release informed here on Tuesday.
He also cited that there is no dearth of marketing for fish, meat and vegetables in the region.
Impressed at how a progressive fish farmer Neelam Dutta has developed a 26-hectare fish farm and generating handsome income avenue, Taki said that his ‘success story’ is encouraging for the NE farmers. Later, he visited Nameri Tea factory at Biswanath Charali and also inaugurated an outlet of ‘Kanyaka’ run by a Cooperative Society.
While interacting with the Management in-charge Smritirekha Hazarika, Taki appreciated the organization for giving employment to 2000 plus local weavers. He also advocated indigenous knowledge sharing between Assam and Arunachal weavers in coming days, the release added.
