Bar Association of Advocates vehemently protest against Bill, submits Memorandum in Golaghat

Sarupathar: The Bar association of Advocates of Dhansiri Subdivision at Sarupathar in Golaghat district staged a protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

The advocates also forwarded a memorandum to the Subdivisional officer (civil) in Sarupathar SDO office.

The activist also warned the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government of a State-wide agitation involving every section of society if the government fails to scrap the highly controversial bill, they also added that they don't want to see Assam as Tripura.

The Bar association activist also appealed during the protest that there should be no tinkering with Assam Accord.

"The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 should be scrapped since it is a threat to the culture, language and identity of Assamese people," the Bar association of Advocates demanded further.
