Bid To Clean Siang River Bank In Arunachal

Itanagar: In a bid to keep the bank of the Siang river along Komlighat side of the centurion town Pasighat in East Siang district clean and eco-friendly and to make the river banks a favourite recreation area, Nanyi Gagi Charitable Society (NGCS) and United Social Responsive Movements (USRMs), with the support of many government departments, successfully conducted a social service on Sunday morning. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, NGCS chairman, Minam Mize told this reporter that today’s service to clean the dirt, plastic and other waste littered around the river bank including children parks was participated by Pasighat Municipal Corporation, Hydro Power department, other NGOs.

“We are planning more in this regard and very shortly a major plantation programme will also be conducted with the theme – ‘Live, Keep, Grow, Clean and Green Environment’ in the same location to beautify the area”, he added.

Mize and USRM’s Karunath Pazing have been working on conservation works of forest and wildlife in the past and are intending to mobilize the general public to create more awareness among them not only to keep clean the surroundings at Komlighat but also to plant more trees for a green environment.
