Bru refugees in Tripura to vote at Assembly Polls in Kanhmun on Mizoram Border

Aizawl: The CEO of Mizoram, Ashish Kundra on Friday said that 12014 Bru refugees residing in Tripura were to cast their votes in Mizoram border in the upcoming Assembly Polls.

Addressing a press conference here, the CEO confirmed that the place of voting for Bru voters in Tripura refugee camps will be Kanhmun.

Kanhmun, a border village under Mamit district is the place selected for Bru Refugees residing in Tripura refugee camps to cast their votes, according to the CEO Mizoram.

At least Fifteen special polling stations will be set up for the same. The total number of Bru electors living in transit camps are 12014.

Regarding transportation arrangement for the voters, Ashish Kundra said assessment was still going on before the decision could be finalised. “We are hoping that all the Bru voters from the camps will receive their voting slips before November 23,” he said.

The Mizoram CEO said he had received good support from the joint NGO co-ordination of Mizoram who said they were ready to provide the voters with food and rest when they come to vote. For a high turnout of Bru voters, the Mizoram CEO will work together with the Tripura CEO.
