Silchar: Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Laya Madduri on Tuesday visited a few remote villages that fall under Baskandi and Razabazar development Block. She went to Narayanpur village and inspected a PMAY house and interacted with Bhim Rajbongshi, the beneficiary of the house. Madduri then inspected a few houses of the same village where solar panel had been installed under the initiative of Barefoot college, an international NGO. This project of installing solar panel is funded by ONGC under its CSR scheme and is being implemented in Cachar by Netaji Chatra Yuba Sangstha, a Silchar based NGO in collaboration with Barefoot College.
During her visit, Laya Madduri was seen walking along the narrow strip in the agricultural field to reach out to the people of this remotely located area. She covered almost 5 km on foot to take stock of progress of various ongoing central government funded schemes. She also visited a rural electronic workshop set up at Narayanpur Rail Basti by Suprabha Rajbongshi and applauded Rajbongshi for taking such an inspiring step. “You have become a source of inspiration to many. It is really a commendable job which will eventually encourage the local youths to take up such initiatives,” said Madduri. Hailing Laya Madduri’s visit to Narayanpur Rail Basti as historic, Subal Rajbangshi, a local youth told that this is first of its kind of visit to his place by a Deputy Commissioner. Later, Madduri interacted with the locals of the villages and listened to their grievances. She was also felicitated by the village committee. On her way back, she inspected Paschimbasti health sub centre and Paschimbasti LP school and also interacted with the school going children.
