DEMOW, June 12: Kitty Jenkin, a resident of UK as well as Global Programme Mager of Life Box Foundation, which is UK and USA based and is a Charity, in Association with ISA, Assam and TAS, had organized a campaign on ‘Safe Anesthesia, Safe Surgery and Safe Patient’ at Demow Model Hospital on Monday. Regarding this, on Monday a press meet was organized at Demow Model Hospital where Kitty Jenkin, Global Programme Mager of Life Box Foundation and Dr Surajit Giri, an anesthesia specialist of Demow Community Health Centre, explained about Life Box and its uses. Kitty Jenkin said that she came to India to see their project progress and due to which she came to Demow Model Hospital. She added that it was fantastic to see the standard of safety in Assam. Kitty Jenkin appreciated the team work done by the Demow Model Hospital Staff with the patients. “For me this is the first-level ICU for delivery performance in Community Centre where facilities for the patients are there,” she said. The chairman of Life Box Foundation is Atul Guanday and the cost of one Life Box is 350 US Dollar and Rs 22,000 in Indian currency. Through the fund of the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Federation of Society of Aesthesia, the Life Box is provided to patients. After operation, patients in UK and USA use the Life Box through which the oxygen level and heart beat can be monitored by the doctors, said Dr Surajit Giri. Moreover, the Life Box is portable, chargeable and reliable and it can be shifted from one place to another. In Assam, till date 60 anesthesiologists of Assam were given the Life Box and in Demow, two Life Boxes were provided and if needed more will be provided to the surgical patients, said Dr Surajit Giri. In the press meet, Dr. Sahad Ullah, SDM and HO of Sivasagar subdivision, Dr Simanta Jyoti Taye, gyecologist along with other doctors and nurses of Demow Model Hospital were present.
