Guwahati: The heartrending incident of Assam bomb blast that took place in different places of the state on October 30, 2008, has seen a ray of light today as the prime convicts in the case are pronounced guilty. The CBI special court on Monday convicted the prime accused Ranjan Daimary and 14 others for their active involvement in the serial bomb blast that claimed the lives of 88 people and left many others devastated.

The 14 convicted in the serial bomb blast are George Bodo, Jayanta Brahma, Ajay Basumatary, Prabhat Bodo, Raju Sarkar, Khargeshwar Basumatary, Rajen Goyary, B Thorai alias Baisagi, Lok Basumatary, Mathuram Brahma, Mridul Goyary, Nilim Daimary, Ansai Bodo and Indra Bodo. The punishments for all the 14 convicted will be pronounced by the SBI Special court on January 30.

Notably, it took 10 years for the serial bomb blast accused to be convicted as guilty and pronounced guilty. Finally, the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) chief Ranjan Daimari and his associates are found guilty under section 120(B), 121, 122, 123 and 302 of the IPC.

The bomb blast of October 30 in 2008 was a moment of disaster, dejection, loss and panic for the people of Assam as it was on that day when 88 innocent lives were lost for no reason. The blasts also left around 580 other people injured for whom the door to all other future prospects was closed.

NDFB Chief Ranjan Daimary was alleged as the prime accused in the bomb blast that took place in several places of the state including Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta.
