New Delhi: Digital addiction has taken the new generation so much into its grip that the addicted youth now do not think it twice in committing a crime just for the sake of some vain reasons. In a recent incident of digital addiction, a Delhi youth is arrested by police for a rather weird crime he has committed. Notably, the 20-year-old youth recently snatched an expensive iPhone from a person just because he wanted to make a TikTok video with a better video quality.

‘TikTok’, already famous among the young generation, is a short video mobile phone application, making videos in which and posting on social media has been more like an addiction of the young boys and girls. This Delhi boy, named Jatin Nagar too is not an exception who wanted to make a TikTok video of himself. However, the unusual thing he did is that he chose to snatch a high-end phone from a person to make sure that the video he makes looks much better than the usual.

As stated by police, Jatin chose to snatch the expensive mobile phone because he wanted to make “better quality videos for his TikTok account’.

The incident came to light when a resident of North Delhi’s Gujarawala Town Jatin Chhabra filed a complaint at the Preet Vihar police station. According to the complaint, Chhabra had given an advertisement on an online commerce site that he wants to sell his iPhone XS and accordingly he received a call from a buyer. The deal, after negotiations, was finalized for Rs 80,000 and they agreed to meet near the Preet Vihar traffic signal to exchange the phone for cash.

But when Chhabra was waiting for the buyer at the said venue, a biker arrived and introduced himself as the buyer. The biker asked Chhabra to show the iPhone before giving the cash and when Chhabra showed the phone, the biker snatched it and sped away immediately.

Deputy Commissioner of police (east) Jasmeet Singh said, “A trap was laid and Nagar was apprehended from Vikas Marg. The stolen iPhone was recovered from his possession.”

After thorough investigation, police tracked down the suspect and finally grabbed him from Preet Vihar.
