GUWAHATI: State BJP has extended their support to the TET-passed contractual teachers, who recently staged a protest in support of their demand for ‘unconditional regularization of their posts with salary protection’.
Sate BJP President Ranjit Kumar Dass said, “The demands, as well as reactions of the teachers, are reasonable and justified. We also are on the same page and wish that the dilemma is resolved at the earliest. We have approached both the state as well as the central government with the issue.”
“After the NET and SLET examinations, qualified applicants can apply for a position in colleges and does not have to reappear for the same examination again but the demand for TET passed applicants to reappear for exams even after they have qualified one time is unreasonable”, contemplated Dass.
“The TET examination is not confined to just the state as it is a central government initiative and falls under RTE (Right To Education) Act. But here in Assam, the state government is held responsible for any anomalies. The Chief Minister and I have been in conversation over the issue with the Central HRD (Human Resource Development) Minister. Moreover, on Sunday, I had another discussion about it with the CM”, stated Dass.
“To address the TET problems that we are faced with, the RTE Act needs to be amended or simplified. I desire that the state government has another talk with the HRD Minister and as a party member, I will try to communicate as well”, Dass said.
It is to be noted that the recently staged protest demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking his intervention to the issue through the Guwahati Police Commissioner.
