HAFLONG, Jan 11: Demanding a train from New Haflong and the revival of ‘Heritage line’, the people of Dima Hasao including jourlists submitted a representation to the   General Mager, N F Railway through the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Amarendra Barua on Monday. The representation appreciating the efforts of Railway to run BG fast passengers train between Guwahti – Silchar, stated that the people of Dima Hasao were not at all benefitted in terms of accommodation from the train communication since the train was origiting from Silchar and Guwahati . Though the major portion of Lumding –Silchar BG section falls in Dima Hasao but the people would remain deprived of train communication. Moreover, as the BG line has left out the old MG section from Mahur to Harangajao, at least 260 villages of the district badly affected as the villagers were solely dependent on the MG rail communication. Perhaps realizing the sufferings of the people of these areas the Railway had sanctioned a project med ‘Mahur – Harangajao Heritage line’ but even after sanctioning of the project, this was dropped suddenly.  They fervently appealed to introduce a train from New Haflong to Guwahati and also to arrange to revive the ‘Mahur – Harangajao heritage line ‘so that people of Dima Hasao can also avail the rail connectivity with rest of the country.
