District Development Committee meet held at Bongaigaon to evaluate the development works

Bongaigaon: The District Development Committee meeting of Bongaigaon District Administration was held on Sunday. In order to evaluate the progress of the development works going on in the district under various departments, DDC meeting serve as an important platform to take feedback of actions, tackle problems faced and ensure timely completion in due course of execution of works. Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan chaired the meeting and Bongaigaon District Development Commissioner proceeded the further discussion of the meeting, stated a press release.

Three activists representing Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) made a powerpoint presentation aiming to create awareness on conservation and establishing safe zone for critically endangered scavenger- vultures in Assam. Biologist of BNHS, Rounoque Ghosh elaborated the prime objectives of their awareness initiatives for preserving this rare species of scavengers. After the presentation, the BNHS team made an appeal to Deputy Commissioner to instruct all concerned departments to extend cooperation in practical realisation of their motive and sensitize village areas to protect this creature which is now rarely seen.

After the brief awareness inputs on preserving the vultures, the main proceeding of the meeting began with department wise feedback on the status of development activities and progress going on in the district under various State and Central government schemes. DC Adil Khan strictly monitored some departments in particular like Public Health Engineering, Fisheries, PWD Roads/ Building/National Highway, Legal Meteorology, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Agriculture, Water Resources, Irrigation, APDCL etc.
