KORRAJHAR: All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Promod Boro has asked leaders of the AKRSU and other organizations to fight with the government on their legitimate demands, but not with the Bodos.
Talking to a section of reporters at Bodofa House in Kokrajhar on Sunday, Boro said it is unfair that the AKRSU is active against the legitimate rights of the Bodos and is openly opposing the peace initiative between the government and students’ body to resolve the long-standing Bodoland issue. He said the Bodos never opposed the AKRSU’s movement, but they are opposing the peace initiatives of the Bodos.
“The leaders of the AKRSU have to look at economic, social and educational issues and fight for these problems with the government, instead of confronting the Bodos on their issues,” he said, adding that some leaders of anti-Bodo and anti-tribal groups are misleading the common people.
Boro said targeting a particular community is not a good sign. The Bodos have been fighting for their legitimate rights based on historical and constitutional rights and the fight for these rights will continue within the ambit of the Constitution of India, he said, adding that Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution of India entitles indigenous tribal people like the Bodos to get new states. He also said that the Bodos are not against the interest of a particular community, but they will not tolerate if someone goes against them.
