Fish Samples Collected by Food Safety Officer from Kokrajhar Market for Analysis

KOKRAJHAR: As directed by the Commissioner of Food Safety, Assam, the Food Safety Officer, Kokrajhar, on Wednesday collected samples of fish and crustaceans at Kokrajhar main market and sent these to the State Public Health Laboratory for analysis. The sample was collected from the fish storage in the main market before being sold. Talking to reporters, the Food Safety Officer, Kokrajhar, Bilifang Brahma said that MC Gogoi, Commissioner of Food Safety, Assam, had issued an order on July 10 prohibiting storage, distribution or sale of fresh fish, including crustaceans, brought from outside the State of Assam. As this order had expired, all designated officers, Senior Food Safety Officers and Food Safety Officers were directed to draw samples of fish and crustaceans coming from outside the State at regular intervals from markets and send the samples for analysis to the State Public Health Laboratory in Guwahati. He also said the samples had been collected according to the directives of the Commissioner of Food Safety and sent to Guwahati.
