Dibrugarh: Former AGP MLA of Moran LAC and former district president of Dibrugarh Xahitya Xabha, Kiron Kumar Gogoi passed away on Saturday at a local nursing home due to kidney failure. Gogoi was suffering from kidney disease from the last two years and was admitted at a local nursing home few days back. He was 64.
Gogoi is survived by two sons and a daughter, besides his wife. Dibrugarh district AGP president Ponakon Baruah condoled his demise. He stated that the AGP has decided to fly the party flag at half-mast for three days as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
A large number of people, party workers, including district AGP president Ponakon Baruah, secretaries Sanjib Baruah, Putul Sonowal, former MLA of Naharkotia, Kushumbar Tairai Gogoi and Prahlad Kumar Tasha, carried Gogoi’s body in a flower-decked truck to his native village for the last rites. The local people also joined the procession. Gogoi’s last rites were performed in the presence of a large number of people.
