Former minister Nilamani Sen Deka’s effigy burnt at Golaghat

Golaghat , Feb 25: The alleged scam of Rs 700 crore in the State Agriculture Department during the tenure of Nilamoni Sen Deka is boiling the State at present.

Several senior officials of the agriculture department were arrested by the CID which has evoked a sharp reaction. Protesting against this scam in the State Agriculture Department, Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad, Golaghat district unit and All Assam Durniti Nibarak Prakriti Suraksha Samiti burnt the effigy of former Agriculture Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka on Saturday in two different locations in Golaghat and criticized his alleged involvement in the scam.

The two organizations burnt the effigy of the former agriculture minister at Bezbaruah Point and near the DC Office in Golaghat. Meanwhile, reacting to the huge scam, AASU central executive leader Raju Phukan and AJYCP central executive leader Jitul Rajkhowa stated that all those involved in the huge scam must be booked and punished as per the rules. Only arrest of a few officials of the department will not bring any change and hence they appealed to the present government to take stern action.
