Former Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Sheikh Chand Mohammad Passes Away

Guwahati: Former Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Sheikh Chand Mohammad passed away today morning at around 4 am at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati.

Mohammad died after prolonged illness. He served as speaker of ALA between 1979-1986.

The Assam government has also taken responsibility of his treatment earlier who had not been keeping well for quite some time.

He would be cremated with state honour today in Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also expressed grief on Mohammad's demise.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also condoles his death.
