Freedom fighter Babu Chabilal Upadhyaya remembered in Biswanath on his 138th birthday

Biswanath Chariali: Freedom fighter Babu Chabilal Upadhyaya was remembered on Sunday on the occasion of his 138th birthday in a meeting held under the aegis of Biswanath District Nepali Sahitya Sabha with Uday Narayan Gautam in the chair.

The programme commenced with flag hoisting and paying of floral tribute to the portrait of the freedom fighter. Taking part as the distinguished speaker, Hari Upadhyaya, retired Principal of Bapuji Higher Secondary School, highlighted the life history of Chabilal Upadhyaya. He also recalled Upadhyaya’s contributions towards India’s freedom struggle and society as well.

Artisan Binod Khanal and folk researcher Pradeep Kumar Baruah were felicitated in the programme. The mouth piece of Biswanath District Nepali Sahitya Sabha was released by veteran litterateur Padma Dhakal. A good number of resolutions related to the organizing issues were passed.
