GC Langthasa's demise widely condoled

Haflong, Feb 3: With the demise of GC Langthasa, former Minister and Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills, who breathed his last at Down Town Hospital, Guwahati on Saturday, an era came to an end in Dima Hasao.
Body of former minister and CEM North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council, Haflong, Gobinda Chandra Langthasa, mostly known as GC Langthasa, reached his residence at Haflong by ambulance at around 3.30 PM on Saturday. The body was received at different places of the district right from Manderdisa, Hatikhali, Langting, Kalachand, Maibang and Mahur. Most of the people, comprising Congress leaders and party members, offered floral tribute to their leader.
His body will be cremated on Sunday at Haflong Town Swasan Ghat after a procession in Haflong. His body will be taken to Rajiv Bhavan, Haflong. He had served the Congress party as NC Hills District Congress president. Then the body will be taken to NC Hills Autonomous Council where he functioned as CEM for a long time. Thereafter, the body will be taken to Haflong Shawsan Ghat.
Senior politician G C Langthasa is survived by two sons and two daughters. He was 86.
The political career of G C Langthasa started from Gunjung Constituency where he for the first time contested in NC Hills Autonomous District Council election with the tiger as symbol as Independent candidate in the year 1986.
